This page explains what cookies ResumeHowl uses and why. The short version: we only use cookies that are necessary to make the service work. No tracking cookies, no advertising cookies, no third-party analytics cookies.
Cookies are small text files that websites store on your device. They help the site remember things like whether you are logged in or what theme you prefer. Our cookies are strictly functional.
Here is the complete list of cookies ResumeHowl sets:
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Auth session | Keeps you logged in so you do not have to sign in every time you visit. This is set when you log in and cleared when you log out. | Session / up to 30 days |
| CSRF token | Protects against cross-site request forgery attacks. This is a security measure that ensures form submissions and actions actually come from you, not from a malicious third party. | Session |
| Theme preference | Remembers whether you chose light mode or dark mode so we can show the right theme when you come back. | 1 year |
| Cookie consent | Remembers that you have seen and acknowledged our cookie notice so we do not keep showing it to you. | 1 year |
We do not set any third-party cookies. Our payment processor, Stripe, may set its own cookies when you interact with the payment form on the checkout page. Those cookies are governed by Stripe's privacy policy, not ours.
You can clear or block cookies through your browser settings. Keep in mind that if you block our authentication cookie, you will not be able to stay logged in. If you clear the theme preference cookie, the site will default to your system theme.

If we add new cookies in the future (for example, if we add analytics), we will update this page and let you know. The "Last updated" date at the top always reflects the most recent version.
