This page explains what cookies ResumeHowl uses and why. The short version: we use a small number of functional cookies to make the service work, plus Google Analytics to understand how people use the site. No advertising cookies.
Cookies are small text files that websites store on your device. They help the site remember things like whether you are logged in or what theme you prefer. Our cookies are strictly functional.
Here is the complete list of cookies ResumeHowl sets:
Auth session
Keeps you logged in so you do not have to sign in every time you visit. This is set when you log in and cleared when you log out.
CSRF token
Protects against cross-site request forgery attacks. This is a security measure that ensures form submissions and actions actually come from you, not from a malicious third party.
Theme preference
Remembers whether you chose light mode or dark mode so we can show the right theme when you come back.
Cookie consent
Remembers that you have seen and acknowledged our cookie notice so we do not keep showing it to you.
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use ResumeHowl so we can improve the experience. Google Analytics sets the following cookies:
_ga
Distinguishes unique visitors. This cookie assigns a random ID to your browser so Google Analytics can tell how many different people visit the site, without identifying you personally.
_ga_W9GPT0BN0K
Maintains session state for Google Analytics. Tracks which pages you visit in a single session so we can see things like which pages are most popular and where people drop off.
The Google Analytics cookies listed above are set by Google. You can learn more about how Google uses this data in their privacy policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Our payment processor, Stripe, may also set its own cookies when you interact with the payment form on the checkout page. Those cookies are governed by Stripe's privacy policy, not ours.
You can clear or block cookies through your browser settings. Keep in mind that if you block our authentication cookie, you will not be able to stay logged in. If you clear the theme preference cookie, the site will default to your system theme.
